MAST Construction nears completion on $48 million project

PARAMUS, NJ — MAST Construction Services, Inc. announced the near completion of the Bergen County Special Services (BCSS) School District’s new educational facility project in Paramus. The $48 million project, for which MAST is providing construction management services, began in January 2014 and is expected to be completed in fall 2015. The District Board of Education is the property owner and the project architect is RSC Architects.

As construction manager, MAST is overseeing and involved in the build’s day-to-day project management, testing and inspection coordination, ongoing progress reporting, shop drawing coordination, contract and scheduling administration, cost reporting/change order management and permit expediting. It is also overseeing site supervision and safety coordination, punch list completion, quality assurance and other facets of the project. Upon completion, the new educational facility will house various BCSS School District programs, as well as administration space in one 125,000 s/f location. The facility includes instructional rooms, offices, a gymnasium, a greenhouse and a kitchen with two cafeterias. “BCSS’s new educational facility has been an exciting project from the start,” said MAST project executive Jim Napolitano. “The plan’s all-encompassing attention to education demonstrates a forward-thinking approach to learning, as made real by the development and inclusion of on-site classrooms and learning spaces dedicated to academic, cultural and physical education plus life skills, as well as suitable offices for administrative and support staff. With the project winding down, we have had the privilege of seeing the parents and students explore the facility for the first time. As a construction manager, it’s extremely gratifying to witness the excitement in their faces as they tour their new school. Working with the staff as we bring this project in for a landing has confirmed how spectacular these programs are and how unbelievably passionate and caring the staff is as they work to get the facility up and running.”
