Ann E. Kline Associate Broker/VP Markward Group Years with company/firm: 22 Years in field: 30 “Don’t be afraid to work hard and follow up on all calls and leads. Every call is an opportunity. You never know where they can take you!”

Congratulations to Ann E. Kline for her recognition as one of the most Outstanding Women in Business for Oct/Nov 2017. Her client focused and tireless work ethic coupled with her integrity, reflect the heart of Markward Group. As Associate Broker/Vice President of Markward Group, Ann helps lead the team of full-service commercial, industrial and retail real estate brokers in the firm. From the office in Allentown, Markward Group provides commercial real estate services throughout Eastern PA, the Mid-Atlantic States and beyond. What was your most notable project, deal or transaction in 2017? Working with the team on the sale of 236 Brodhead Road, Bethlehem. How do you manage the work/life balance? I give it my all when I am at work. I do keep connected when I am off if it is possible, but take time away from all electronics and phones to enjoy myself. What impact has social media/networking had on your business? It allows us to market ourselves through other avenues and to people and companies who we might have not been exposed to. Tell us how and when you began your career in the profession you are in, about your current position and why you chose the field you are in today? In 1995, my corporate real estate job was moving out of state, and I was approached by Del Markward, who was opening his own office. What were some of your early goals and did anything happen in your career/profession to change them? One of my first goals was to obtain my Broker License, and I did that immediately. What unique qualities and or personality traits do you feel make you most successful in your profession? My attention to detail and follow up. No one likes not feeling important enough to have their calls returned. What challenges and/or obstacles do you feel you needed to overcome to become as successful as you are today? There were very few commercial real estate women when I started. That, however, is beginning to change. What was the most defining moment for you in the profession you are currently in? Having the opportunity to join Del Markward when he opened Markward Group was a great opportunity as was experiencing the education to become a Broker which gave me the advantage of knowing much more in the field and allowed me to develop the tools to excel. Do you feel there are any differences in the way that men and women develop business relationships and if so, what activities or venues do you participate in? I do! I also think we develop relationships differently through business by having a common bond with our clients. Tell us a little bit about your family? I have 3 sons and 3 grandsons. Who do you feel was most influential in your life when choosing this profession? I had a corporate background in real estate and then was approached by Del Markward to join his startup company. Being given an opportunity to work hard in this field, learn and flourish, was the most influential factor. What outside activities do you enjoy during your free time? Camping, traveling and spending time with my family.
