Torcon, Inc. Creative Therapy Center and Healing Gardens at the Magee Rehabilitation Center
Location: Philadelphia, PA Type of project: The project was the creation of a non-traditional-hospital space on the sixth floor rooftop for patient treatment. Size: 15,200 SF Torcon led construction management for the conversion of Magee’s rooftop into an outdoor healing garden. Here, patients can partake in therapy sessions, visit the spiritual center, or enjoy the view. Targeted crane use provided access to the rooftop, including for the delivery of an automobile for patients to practice driving along different curb cuts and surfaces. The project encompassed renovated indoor spaces for a new atrium and art studio for Magee’s Art Therapy program. Torcon had no street-level space for staging, and the hospital remained operational throughout construction. The team worked diligently and unobtrusively to ensure safety and patient comfort.
