Verizon HQ Cooling Towers-Basking Ridge, NJ
Type of project: Infastructure Upgrade This project was originally to provide repairs to the structural steel dunnage platform that supports six cooling tower for the Verizon Headquarters in Basking Ridge, NJ. Given the extent of the repairs needed and risk of replacing the steel with the towers in place, combined with the age of the existing towers, it became apparent that it would be more feasible and practical in the long run to replace the towers at the same time as the platform work. This transformed this relatively simple and seemingly low cost project into a much more complex and expensive undertaking. Since the condenser water system operates 24x7, temporary cooling towers and pumps were put into place to keep the facility operational while the replacement work is occurring.
