Tell us how and when you began your career in the profession you are in:

I began my career shortly after college, interning at a design-build firm in NYC where I learned the fundamentals of project design, construction, and client relations. That early hands-on experience helped me understand how design, budgeting, and coordination come together to deliver a successful project.

What is your current position?

My current position is the Architecture Department Head within the design and construction field, where I oversee production of architectural drawings and communication between clients, engineers, and contractors.

Why did you choose the field/profession you are in today?

I chose architecture because it blends creativity with technicality. From early on, I loved seeing ideas become places that people actually use. Architecture lets me pair that passion with the real-world.

How do you manage the work/life balance?

I’m fortunate to have a supportive family that values education and hard work which help me in both my personal and professional life.

Who or what has been the strongest influence on your career?

My strongest influence was my mom. She always encouraged me to pursue education, work hard, and to follow through on my commitments.

What were some of your early goals and did anything happen in your career /profession to enhance or change them?

Early on, my goal was simply to gain experience and learn every side of the business. Over time, that goal evolved into a passion for leadership, helping others develop their skills and grow within a company.

What challenges and/or obstacles do you feel you needed to overcome to become as successful as you are today?

Like many women entering a technical or male-dominated field, I had to build confidence and learn to speak up in meetings. Over time, I realized that preparation and professionalism earn respect quickly.

Do you feel being a woman is an advantage, a disadvantage, or no advantage in today’s business world? Why? Why not?

I believe being a woman can be an advantage today, as diversity in perspective leads to better collaboration and creativity. While challenges still exist, companies are increasingly recognizing the value of inclusive leadership.

What inspiring word of advice would you give to a young woman about to go into the field of commercial real estate or your allied field?

Be prepared, stay curious, and never be afraid to ask questions or take initiative. Confidence grows from experience—and every opportunity is a chance to learn and lead.
