46-acre development to feature retail, residential, hotel, and office space

Richmond, VA — Greenberg Gibbons, broke ground on Midtown64 – a $500+ million, 46-acre mixed-use destination in Henrico County, located just outside of downtown Richmond, on the former Genworth Financial headquarters campus. Hospitality industry leader Shamin Hotels is a joint-venture partner in the project.
With a landmark location at the intersection of West Broad St. and I-64, the two-million s/f, mixed-use development will include up to 130,000 s/f restaurant and entertainment space and will be anchored by a premier grocery store and new-to-market fitness concept. Midtown64 will also feature up to 300,000 s/f of class A office space, a residential community with nearly 1,000 apartments, 194 townhomes built by Lennar, and a 226-room dual-branded hotel, including Tempo by Hilton, one of the company’s newest lifestyle brands.
“Breaking ground on Midtown64 is an exciting milestone that brings to life our vision to create a first-class, mixed-use destination to serve Henrico County and the greater Richmond region,” said Eric Walter, president of Greenberg Gibbons. “We look forward to our continued partnership with the local community to deliver a vibrant, standout project for all to enjoy.”
“The significant investment by Greenberg Gibbons and Shamin Hotels in the Midtown64 development is set to transform this corridor of West Broad St. into a dynamic, premier destination, combining residential, office, retail, and hospitality,” said Henrico County Board of Supervisors Chair and Brookland District supervisor Daniel J. Schmitt. “Midtown64 will energize the area, generate opportunities for businesses and residents, and showcase Henrico’s vision for a vibrant, inclusive community where growth and opportunity thrive.”
“Midtown64 builds on our track record of revitalizing properties into thriving mixed-use destinations, while marking an exciting expansion of our portfolio in Virginia,” said Brian Gibbons, chairman and CEO of Greenberg Gibbons. “This project reflects our continued commitment to creating engaging destinations across the East Coast that bring people together.”
“We’re excited to partner with Greenberg Gibbons on another first-class project,” said Neil Amin, CEO of Shamin Hotels, a Virginia-based company that is the largest hotel owner and operator throughout the state. “Having our hotel within this dynamic destination will be very attractive to both business and leisure travelers in the area.”
