Runnemede, NJ – Indoor Environmental Concepts, LLC (IEC), an industrial hygiene consulting company specializing in environmental inspections of commercial, residential and public properties, expands with a new brand and new partner. IEC, which was founded in 2011 and for the last few years did business as Menz Industrial Hygiene Services, recently rebranded under its original name as part of its expansion of inspection services and industries served. Led by Michael P. Menz, CIH, CHMM, IEC is one of only a handful of regional firms with a full time ABIH Certified Industrial Hygienist on staff. He and the team provide rapid inspection services for environmental investigations in varied fields, addressing such areas as asbestos, mold, lead, silica, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), Legionella and most recently, COVID-19 protocols, to promote healthy environments for schools and workplaces.

In November 2020, IEC also welcomed Robert J. DeMalo, M.Sc. as vice president and Partner. The licensed EPA/Pennsylvania Asbestos Building Inspector holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial Hygiene and has over 30 years’ experience in the industrial hygiene and environmental health and safety industries. Prior to joining IEC, DeMalo was senior vice president for Laboratory Services and Business Development at EMSL Analytical, Inc. in Cinnaminson, NJ, where he spent 25 years coordinating and implementing expansion strategy, business development and overseeing the laboratory technical operations. A published writer and presenter on industry-related topics, DeMalo co-authored “Internal Standard Addition Method for Identifying Asbestos Containing Materials In Bulk Samples Containing Low Levels of Asbestos.” His expertise has been showcased at many events and national conferences over the years, most recently to include presentations on asbestos measurement methods at the 2019 American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) National Conference, PFAS in drinking water and asbestos inspection training at the 2020 Pillar to Post Brand Conference as well as the new OSHA silica rule at the 2019 Southern California Joint Technical Symposium Annual Conference, which had a shared audience of attendees from AIHA and the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP). At IEC, DeMalo will provide expert consulting services while actively working to grow and expand the company in several areas, including staffing, breadth of services and territories served.
