Lawson recognized with 17 Awards of Excellence


Lawson received 17 awards at the 39th Annual Coastal Multifamily Housing Council Awards of Excellence ceremony.

Norfolk, VA — Lawson announced that their dedicated team members and exceptional properties received 17 awards at the 39th Annual Coastal Multifamily Housing Council Awards of Excellence ceremony. Lawson properties earned top honors in multiple categories, showcasing our commitment to excellence in the real estate industry.

This year’s event, themed “Back to the 80’s Prom Night” added a nostalgic and festive atmosphere. Their team members embraced the theme, adding an extra layer of fun and camaraderie to the celebration.

“We greatly appreciate this recognition of our hard-working team members,” said Lawson Realty Company president, Susan Satira. “It’s a testament to our team’s dedication to exceeding the expectations of our residents and investors.”

Among the individual accolades, Wendy Williams was honored as Property Manager of the Year, and Amy Gutterman received the Leasing Consultant of the Year award.

• Best Curb Appeal: Kingsbridge (Runner-up)

• Affordable Housing: The Rivers (Gold)

• Communities Built Between 1940-1959: Merrimack Landing (Gold) and Oakmont North (Bronze)

• Active Adult Communities Built in 1995 or Before: John Knox Towers (Gold)

• Communities Built Between 1990-1999: Campostella Commons (Gold)

• Communities Built Between 2000-2009: Belle Hall (Gold)

• Communities Built Between 2010-2015: Baker Woods (Gold) and The Residences at October (Silver)

• Communities Built Between 2016-2019: Seaside Harbor (Gold), Summer Haven (Silver), and The Villas at October (Bronze)

• Communities Built 2020 or Later: The Retreat at Harbor Pointe (Bronze)

“We’re thrilled to celebrate these accomplishments and the teams behind them,” said Lawson president and CEO, Carl Hardee. “Today, we honor these achievements, and tomorrow, we continue to raise the bar for quality rental housing.”

In other news, Lawson is deeply honored to receive the 2024 Jeff Miller Award at this year’s Hope House Foundation Gala.

“This award acknowledges a corporation that exemplifies strength in business and community service, demonstrated through their leadership, integrity, imagination, and optimism,” said Hope House Foundation board member and past president, Diana White. “Lawson embodies every one of those characteristics and more.”

Lawson has partnered with Hope House Foundation for decades. Hope House Foundation provides essential services to developmentally disabled adults, supporting their independence. This partnership has enabled Hope House to offer on-site, individualized services to residents at Lawson-owned and managed properties.

Their latest collaboration, Market Heights Apartments in Norfolk, is a testament to their shared commitment. Market Heights is a 164-unit Low Income Housing Tax Credit community, offering 100% affordable housing to residents at 40%, 50%, and 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI). The community includes 17 handicapped-accessible units compliant with Section 504 and 80 units designed with Universal Design principles.
