HILLSIDE, NJ — NAIOP New Jersey reintroduced their Community Action Food Drive & Volunteer Day, partnering with the Community Food Bank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) in Hillside for a memorable day of generosity and impact. The volunteer event, which was last held in 2019, brought together NAIOP staff, members and colleagues in the fight against hunger.
According to CFBNJ, volunteers at NAIOP’s morning and afternoon shifts combined for over 200 hours worked. In the morning, volunteers prepared 690 grilled chicken meal kits and breakfast meal kits, as well as packed 525 boxes for seniors. In the afternoon, 1,000 fish meal kits were prepared and 1,516 bags of pasta were packed, with 160 repack cases, as well. The work of NAIOP and its volunteers supported an average of over 24,000 meals throughout the course of the day.
“We were so thrilled to be back volunteering with CFBNJ, and we thank them for having us,” said NAIOP NJ CEO Dan Kennedy. “We are incredibly grateful that so many people came out and volunteered. It’s always an honor to partner with CFBNJ to help make a difference for our communities.” In addition to hosting the volunteer day, NAIOP NJ also pledged to donate $5,000 to CFBNJ.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025, the Community Food Bank of New Jersey is the largest anti-hunger and anti-poverty organization in the state. The organization works to provide meals to food insecure residents throughout the state, including children and seniors, and also provides job training to those seeking a second chance. Today, CFBNJ has more than 800 pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and other feeding programs, distributing over 90 million nutritious meals annually.
