SIOR Philadelphia Chapter awards four scholarships


PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors and the SIOR Foundation have awarded scholarships at four Pennsylvania universities to students in recognition of their academic excellence.

Scholarships, in the amount of $4,000 per student, were awarded to:

• Peter Banfe, St. Joseph’s University

• Elizabeth Curley, Villanova University

• Jake Lewis, Temple University

• Melanie Machuca, Drexel University

“We are honored to support students in their educational journey as they learn and develop the practical skills necessary to become successful in the commercial real estate industry,” said Colin Flynn, SIOR, Philadelphia Chapter president.

The Philadelphia Chapter is one of 48 chapters of the prestigious international association, the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors®. Commercial real estate professionals must meet rigorous requirements to earn the SIOR designation.

SIOR is the leading global professional office and industrial real estate association. With more than 3,700 members in 45 countries, SIOR represents today’s most knowledgeable, experienced and successful commercial real estate brokerage specialists.

“Participation in SIOR infuses value to its members beyond its traditional networking, educational and industry leadership activities, and we hope these exceptional students pursue the SIOR designation one day,” added Flynn.

The SIOR Foundation’s mission is to promote and support initiatives that expand, educate and enrich the commercial real estate community. Established in 1962, the SIOR Foundation has maintained its dedication to expanding understanding of the commercial real estate industry. The Foundation has a matching scholarship program available to the local SIOR chapters.

The SIOR Philadelphia Chapter includes 87 members who bear the highest standards of professionalism and competence located throughout eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware.
