JZA+D, 30 Maclean, Princeton, NJ
Size: 7,600 s/f
Level: Gold
This project converts a historic meeting house near the center of Princeton, previously used by a local Freemasons chapter, to new use as a mixed-income multifamily residence. Designed by local architecture firm JZA+D for developer Princeton Maclean LLC, the deal introduced much-needed new residential units in this quiet, walkable area while preserving both the neighborhood character and one of its most iconic buildings. The gut renovation created ten studio, 1-bedroom, and 2-bedroom loft-style apartments, ranging from 500 to 1000 square feet, while the exterior was restored and an elevator tower added.
The residence achieved Gold certification under LEED for Homes.
