Reading, PA — The Greater Reading Chamber Alliance (GRCA), announced the sale of 12.94 acres of land to G&T Industries. The parcel of land sits on the corner of Leisczs Bridge and Van Reed Rds. in Bern Twp.
G&T Industries plans to construct a 100,000 s/f facility at the location. The $8 million investment project is slated for completion in early 2022. Upon completion, the company will transition its 65 employees from its current Reading location to the new location.
“The employees at our facility are very excited with the investment G&T Industries is making for our new building. We have come through a very difficult time with major impacts felt by the COVID pandemic, yet we were able to continue to service our customers at the high level they have become accustomed to. The new site displays the commitment G&T has in its employees, its customers and the local community,” said Bob Shumoski, G&T Industries general manager.
GRCA’s certified economic development organization, the Greater Berks Development Fund (GBDF) is happy to have guided G&T Industries through the purchasing procedure.
“This is a great beginning for this overall 50+ acre site. We are particularly pleased that a local manufacturer, a priority target of GRCA, is leading the way on this GBDF project. G&T has been terrific to deal with throughout the entire process,” said Ed Swoyer, senior advisor to GBDF.
In other news, The Greater Reading Chamber Alliance (GRCA) is pleased to announce that Sarah Thomas will serve as keynote speaker at GRCA’s 108th Annual Dinner. Thomas is best known as the NFL’s first female referee, joining the league as a down judge in 2015. She not only worked Super Bowl LV last season, but also was named one of Sports Illustrated's 100 Most Influential NFL Figures of All Time. The Annual Dinner is the area’s largest gathering of business and community leaders, with an expected crowd of around 1,000 people.
With the same unflappability that it takes to make a split-second call on the field, Thomas will share key insights on overcoming adversity – and the odds – finding your passion while maintaining work-life balance, decision-making, and not only succeeding as a female in a male-dominated industry but achieving breakthrough success for males and females alike.
The Dinner will also celebrate the Greater Reading business community with the Greater Reading Top Business Awards, the Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards, and the Albert Boscov Economic Development Award.
