Ridgewood, NJ – The STRO Companies, the real estate operating company for the Millstein Family Office, announced that Gabriel Shiff has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer.
As STRO’s Chief Operating Officer, Gabriel Shiff will apply his 25 years of industry experience to oversee and enhance all elements of the company’s real estate platform. He will take a leadership role in directing STRO’s acquisitions, capital markets, leasing, accounting & finance, construction & development, and asset & property management functions and initiatives. He will work alongside STRO Founder and Principal, Steven Millstein, to enhance the value of the properties STRO currently services, grow the portfolio in its existing markets and expand into new ones in the Southeast.
“I am excited by the opportunity to work alongside Steve and STRO’s talented team of professionals to grow the Company’s portfolio and drive continued operational excellence,” said Gabriel Shiff.
The Ridgewood-based firm stated that Gabriel Shiff’s vast real estate experience made him an optimum executive to steward the Company for its next wave of capital and portfolio expansion. Shiff previously served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Investment Officer at Roseland Residential, the residential platform of Mack-Cali, a full-service developer, owner and manager of luxury residential and mixed-use assets located in the Northeast. Roseland amassed a portfolio of ~7,000 units and had an AUM of ~$5.0B. Mack-Cali, formerly a publicly traded office REIT, has since been rebranded to Veris Residential (VRE).
During his tenure, he led Roseland's growth from 7 to 24 operating assets, exponentially increasing average ownership and net operating income. Gabriel executed over $3 billion in acquisitions and dispositions and over $4 billion in debt financing and equity raises. Before his role at Roseland, Gabriel was an analyst at Bear, Stearns, & Company's Real Estate, Gaming, and Lodging (REGAL) Investment Banking Group. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
“I am excited to have Gabriel join our STRO team. He brings a wealth of knowledge and resources and has significant experience with institutional equity recapitalizations and raises, which is something our family’s next generation is interested in pursuing. His experience and mentoring of our children, who recently joined STRO, will prove invaluable as we continue our rapid growth in Northern New Jersey and the Southeast,” said STRO’s Founder and Principal, Steven Millstein.
