PITTSBURGH, PA — Newmark Grubb Knight Frank (NGKF) represented Pennsylvania State University (PSU) in the new location of the Penn State Center and Exchange to the historic Hill District neighborhood of Pittsburgh. PSU has signed an 11,000 s/f lease at the Energy Innovation Center (EIC), located at 1435 Bedford Ave.
The 185,000 s/f EIC was constructed in 1930 and formerly served as the Connelly Trade School. The Penn State Center and Exchange, which will house community outreach initiatives, engaged scholarship and applied research for PSU. With a projected April 2015 occupancy, PSU will assume the first floor of the property which is undergoing LEED Platinum certification. The Penn State Center will be among the first entities to occupy the EIC with additional higher education institutions scheduled to join PSU.
NGKF’s Tom MacDonald, senior managing director, represented PSU in the search for its new location.
