Philadelphia’s Wright Commissioning wins major Government projects

October 14, 2016

Philadelphia, PA — Wright Commissioning, an MBE / WBE and the Philadelphia region’s only independent building commissioning firm, is pleased to announce that it has been selected to retro-commission federal buildings in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Houston and Lubbock. The contract with the General Services Administration requires that all five retro-commissioning projects, including ASHRAE ventilation testing and energy audits be completed by the end of September.

“It’s a challenging timeline,” said Will Wright, “but we are comfortable with an accelerated pace. Our goals are to optimize performance of the building systems, identify opportunities for cost-effective reductions in energy consumption and improve indoor conditions for building occupants. We aim to make sure that the building systems in these landmark structures run as efficiently as possible so taxpayer dollars aren’t wasted.”

The five civic projects slated for retro-commissioning include the monumental U.S. Custom House in New Orleans, a 386,000 s/f National Historic Landmark completed in 1881, one of the oldest and most important federal buildings in the South; the 67,000 s/f Baton Rouge Federal Building and Courthouse, a 1933 Neoclassical limestone structure with a granite base and ionic columns; the adjacent Russell B. Long Federal Building, a 187,000 s/f courthouse annex built in 1994 and named for a powerful native son; the LaBranch Federal Building in Houston, Texas, a two-story, 79,000 s/f brick building built in 1946; and the GH Mahon Federal Building / Courthouse in Lubbock, Texas, a 183,000 s/f, eight-story Modernist structure built in 1971.

Wright Commissioning has considerable experience with civic buildings, having completed commissioning projects for the US Department of Agriculture, US National Guard, NAVFAC, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the City of Philadelphia, among others.
