Boston, MA — Avison Young’s Boston office space has been awarded LEED Gold status from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).The company received the award after moving into, and upgrading, larger premises at 200 State St. in Boston. Avison Young moved into a 14,460 s/f space, including the penthouse, in 2017 to accommodate business growth. The firm’s Boston office has been located at 200 State St. since 2012.The LEED Gold certification in Boston is part of the company’s global citizenship efforts, which include aiming to achieve the highest standards in sustainable operations.

As part of the new space build-out, the company leveraged the expertise of its own Boston project management team, led by vice president of project management Patrick Schmidt and vice president of construction Mark Sullivan.

“Global citizenship is extremely important to the Avison Young family,” said Schmidt. “Our new Boston office space demonstrates that we are committed to sustainability and stand with our numerous clients who have spent an extra dollar to improve their operations.”

Avison Young’s in-house team worked with WB Engineers + Consultants and IA Interior Architects on the new space layout and design, and also collaborated closely with Brian Salazar of Entegra Development & Investment, LLC as a LEED consultant.“At the start of the project, Gold wasn’t really on the radar, but as we progressed we realized more and more opportunities were possible,” said Salazar. “It took a little extra time; but in the end, the project was awarded 60 points, and it’s an accomplishment we should all be proud of.”
