PIDA approves funding for two ag projects

February 5, 2020

The Greater Reading Chamber Alliance (GRCA) announced that the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA) approved two economic development loans at its January board meeting in Harrisburg.
PIDA will provide a $400,000 loan to assist RanShar Farms, LLC with the construction of a duck finishing barn, which will be able to produce 247,000 ducks annually, totaling 40,500 s/f. The project is located at 148 Bachmol Rd., Tilden Township. RanShar Farms, LLC is a family-operated farm owned by brothers, Randy and James Reppert. The farm was previously owned by their parents, and focused on crop production of hay, corn and soybeans. The duck expansion will generate additional income to keep the farm operation in the family.
“What great news that PA is willing to partner with a family-owned farm. Their help will ensure that our family farm will be able to stay in the family for generations to come,” said James Reppert.
