HILLSIDE, NJ — NAIOP New Jersey’s Community Action Project has become an important date on the calendar each year, and for 2015, for the 6th year in a row, the commercial real estate development association once again volunteered with on-site assistance and through donations of food and funds to aid the Community Food Bank of New Jersey (CFBNJ). On July 10, chapter members, colleagues, family members and staff volunteered for the day at CFBNJ’s headquarters and warehouse in Hillside, sorting incoming donations, repacking food and household items, and preparing food boxes to feed hungry NJ residents in 18 counties. “Nearly 100 volunteers participated in the day-long effort this year,” said Michael McGuinness, CEO of NAIOP New Jersey. “The turnout was the largest yet and clearly demonstrates our members’ long-standing commitment to community service. We sincerely thank our volunteers for their efforts and donations in this worthy cause. Every dollar donated equates to 10 dollars of food-buying power for the food bank.” NAIOP’s 2015 Community Action Committee is chaired by John Mikula of HFF and Lauren Richter of The Rockefeller Group, and the volunteer project is coordinated by NAIOP NJ director of policy and communications Barbara Morford. A lunch break in CFBNJ’s Community Room, provided by the CFBNJ’s on-site Service Training Academy, “Stone Soup,” was sponsored by Elberon Development Group.
