Making strides in facilities services to better support client needs

The recent expansion of ECS’ Facilities services group capabilities provides clients with a one-stop shop for many needs in all phases of a real estate project’s lifecycle. The newly enhanced teams supporting Building Enclosure Consulting, Geostructural Design and Third Party Code Compliance now provide extended service throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond.
Some great examples of the application of these services include:
• Building Enclosure Consulting for the renovation of a world-renowned museum organization’s largest facility in Washington, DC
ECS’ Building Enclosure team provided document review and consulting services to the owner and the design team as part of the overall Commissioning of the project. ECS’ architects and building science professionals, as well as qualified technicians are currently providing on-site Quality Assurance Observations to help ensure that the Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR) will be met.
• Geostructural Design for a nationally known Internet Service Provider’s expansion of their network capacity.
At multiple sites throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, ECS’s Geostructural team performed analyses of existing slabs for the application of new loads and provided design services for those sites where the existing slab was found to be inadequate. The existing conditions of the slabs on grade were documented using a combination of techniques including visual assessments, Ground Penetrating Radar, and material sampling. Sub-surface characteristics were determined through soil sampling and testing as well as searching for below-grade voids. Together, this data presented the snapshot needed to provide necessary design services for the expansion.
• Third Party Inspection Program steps in during a local COVID-related crunch.
When an inspector in a local jurisdiction tested positive for COVID-19, the entire department sent all of their inspectors into quarantine. Several clients reached out to ECS to provide inspections during this time to avoid delays in construction. Our teams mobilized as requested and, with the consent of the local jurisdiction, helped our clients to stay on schedule.
