Bucks County, Pennsylvania, has something for everyone

Bucks County, PA, has something for everyone. With its location in the middle of the most populated megalopolis in the Western Hemisphere, with over 50 million residents, it is the most heavily urbanized region in the United States. Bucks County is located 25 miles from Philadelphia and 75 miles from New York with proximity of major highways, including the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Northeast Extension, and Routes I-95 and I-295. It has three distinct areas to live, work or play – Upper, Middle and Lower Bucks County.

Bucks County is filled with historical sites. Washington Crossing Historical Park, located along the Delaware River, is where General Washington’s army camped and traveled the river to gain the upper hand in the Revolutionary War. Pennsbury Manor, William Penn’s homestead in Morrisville, provides a glimpse of colonial life in Bucks County. The Delaware Canal, spanning 59 miles from Bristol, Bucks County, to Easton, Northampton County, was an early industrial highway for colonial products.The County is home to major museums, including the Mercer Museum and James A. Michener Museum (Doylestown), Pearl Bucks House (Perkasie) and the Children’s Museum (New Hope). The corridor between Doylestown and New Hope is full of quaint galleries featuring local artists. There are several performing arts venues, including the famous Bucks County Playhouse (New Hope), the new Commerce Bank Amphitheater (Bensalem) and the Sellersville Theater (Sellersville).

Visitors and residents can enjoy the natural beauty of the county in one of the 22 County parks. Activities include hiking, sailing birding, fishing, or just enjoying the outdoors. The thousand of acres of parkland in State parks, including Neshaminy State Park, Delaware Canal State Park, Nockamixon State Park and Tyler State Park, serve residents throughout all areas of Bucks County. In addition to lakes and parks, Bucks County has several vineyards and wineries taking advantage of the nutrient soil, including Buckingham Valley Winery (Buckingham), Bishop Estate Winery (Hilltown), Sandcastle Winery (Erwinna), and many others.If you like a four-season location, Bucks County distinctly experiences winter, spring, summer and fall. Temperatures range from below freezing and high nineties and everything in between.

The Philadelphia Region, including Bucks County, ranks as one of the nation’s leading regions for higher education, with 104 colleges and universities, 440,000 students, and 90,000 degrees awarded annually. Bucks County is home to Delaware Valley University, Bucks County Community College (3 campuses) and Holy Family University.

Bucks County is a great place to call home, for both personal and business reasons. Bucks County Economic Development Corporation (BCEDC) has been helping the county to increase its economic base for 60 years, assisting companies both located in and relocating to the area. BCEDC offers low-interest financing for manufacturing entities that create or retain jobs for County residents. Since 1958, BCEDC’s mission has been to create and retain jobs for Bucks County residents. In the last 60 years BCEDC has assisted companies with a total project investment of over 5.8 billion dollars thus creating and retaining 79 thousand jobs. The mission of the EDC remains the same for the near future.
